Grandma keeps 137 dogs despite being 71 years old, I’m old but I have to continue

Gorica Angelkovska, from Serbia, needs help to continue caring for these dogs and the 25 cats she also cares for. “I would be happier knowing that they will take care of the animals when I am no longer here,” she admitted. There are people who do not hesitate to leave everything and take risks just to help others who are in a worse situation.

This is usually the spirit of these activists who are dedicated to saving the lives of unprotected animals who are left in the worst living conditions on the streets. Sometimes it can also be people who decide on their own to give these furry friends a helping hand because they know they aren’t having a good time. An example of this is what Gorica Angelkovska, a 71-year-old Serbian grandmother, is doing who, despite the lack of resources, managed to take care of 162 dogs and cats that she picked up from the street.

Without his help, most of the 137 dogs he raised from puppies probably would not have survived. However, it is increasingly difficult for her to continue this task and she worries about the lives of her furry friends, especially in winter. “I am alone. It becomes difficult to walk around the shelter, clean them and feed them.

“I could no longer enjoy my life knowing that these desperate animals had no one to care for them. Their looks full of despair followed me,” says the grandmother. For this reason, she decided to build a kind of shelter on land she bought, to give them a place. “My biggest fear in winter is not being able to take care of them the way they deserve. I already have difficulty lifting buckets, carrying garbage and anything heavy. In winter, everything becomes 10 times more difficult. I desperately need a helping hand,” she stressed..

I have no one else to help me and I just have to keep going. I’m getting very old. I am very worried about spending this winter,” she added. This is why the international organization dedicated to animal rescue Harmony Fund has undertaken fundraising and a search for sponsors, in order to find a caregiver who can look after the dogs. “I’m looking for someone to take over the shelter in the long term. I would be happier knowing that the animals will be taken care of when I am no longer here. It’s hard to find someone with the same drive and passion for them,” the grandmother said.
