Married at first sight: he just left us at the age of 33, rest in peace..

In France, the show Married at First Sight is a real hit. The concept exists in several countries and it is on M6 that viewers in France can follow this program. Sadly, a former contestant from the New Zealand version died, aged just 33. It was the broadcaster TMZ who announced it this Monday, July 1, 2024.

MARRIED AT FIRST SIGHT: DEATH OF A FORMER CANDIDATE
On M6, Married at First Sight is a ratings success. And in many countries around the world, this is also the case, notably in New Zealand. In this land of rugby, the first edition took place on October 1, 2017 with the same concept: marry couples who agree to unite when they meet for the first time.

If the show works, it is in particular thanks to candidates who have an atypical personality and the locations offered by the different channels are often heavenly. After the wedding night and the honeymoon, a choice arises: continue as husband and wife, or divorce, which leads to some pretty funny scenes.
For the premiere of the New Zealand program, a 26-year-old man caught the attention of the production and the public, a certain Andrew Jury. Presented as an extroverted, charming and spontaneous man, he had come looking for love, like the other Married at First Sight NZ candidates. And that’s how he met Vicky, 27, in 2017. If everything started well, their “story” did not survive the return to reality. Since then, the young man had not given much sign of life on social networks and unfortunately, this Monday July 1, 2024, TMZ announced his death at the age of 33.
ANDREW WAS IN PROVISIONAL DETENTION

We then learned that Andrew, an unconditional lover of fishing and animals, had experienced quite difficult times after the show. Indeed, his father explained that his son was in pre-trial detention in Auckland at the time of his death. He would appear in court a few hours later.

Andrew, who had been in prison since April 2, was charged with acts with intent to injure, intentional damage and possession of a weapon. Former Married at First Sight NZ candidates have paid tribute to him, like Angel Renall and Benjamin Blackwell to name a few. For the moment, it is impossible to know whether his appearance on television caused him harm or not.
